New Nationwide Effort Promotes a Switch to Energy Star Lights
Organizations and individuals committed to energy efficiency are raising awareness of the benefits of switching to compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs). Called the 18-Seconds movement, they emphasize that one small action, taking just 18 seconds to replace a conventional incandescent bulb with an Energy Star-labeled CFL, can dramatically cut energy use and benefit the environment. Dep't. of Energy Seeks a Fast Track to New Energy Efficiency Standards
DOE has requested congressional authorization to greatly speed up its process for setting energy efficiency standards to bring more efficient products to market sooner.
